Seek (ASX:SEK) is facing a lawsuit filed by Employment Hero with the Federal Court of Australia on July 18 for its alleged misuse of market power, the court's website showed.

Details were not provided, but an Australian Financial Review report on Monday said Employment Hero accuses Seek of cutting off the human resources start-up's access to its hiring platform.

Seek plans to cut Employment Hero's application programming interface (API) access in August, citing a strategic shift, a move Employment Hero says breaches competition laws and risks disrupting thousands of businesses, the AFR said.

Employment Hero Chief Executive Ben Thompson pointed out their contrasting approaches, with Employment Hero offering a free hiring platform and Seek focusing on paid job listings, the report added.

The first case management hearing is slated for Tuesday, presided over by Justice Elizabeth Cheeseman, per the court's website.

Seek did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
