1116 ET - It's going to take more than a new partnership with Sydney Sweeney to change J.P. Morgan analysts' minds about American Eagle Outfitters. Traffic trends remained sluggish in the recent quarter, as the retailer's spring/summer assortment didn't resonate as planned, the analysts say. They forecast lower revenue, earnings and comps in 2Q. Looking ahead, American Eagle will likely see higher marketing costs and tariff charges continue to pressure 3Q results, the analysts say. The company previously said it planned to take a "wait and see" approach regarding promotional activity in the second half of the year, as it is unsure how customers will take to planned price increases. JPM downgrades American Eagle to underweight from neutral and maintains its $9 price target. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
