Avantel's (BOM:532406) consolidated net profit fell to 32.3 million Indian rupees in the fiscal first quarter from 73.8 million rupees a year ago, according to an Indian bourse filing on Friday.

Earnings per share in the quarter ended June 30 slipped to 0.12 rupees from 0.32 rupees a year earlier.

The telecom company's revenue from operations rose year on year to 519.1 million rupees from 517.6 million rupees, the filing said.

Shares of the company fell 7% in recent trade.
