Pop Mart International Group (HKG:9992) has filed a lawsuit in a California district court against 7-Eleven Inc. and seven convenience store owners or franchisees for allegedly selling counterfeit versions of its Labubu toys and infringing on its trademarks, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday.

The report said Pop Mart's Beijing, Singapore, and US-based units, which hold the relevant trademarks and copyrights, are seeking injunctions to stop the alleged infringement, along with punitive damages, recovery of profits, and legal costs.

"Despite its rights and ability to control and exercise approval over franchisees, 7-Eleven has failed to utilise this control to prevent and stop the counterfeiting and infringement of Pop Mart's trademarks, trade dress and copyrights," the complaint said, according to the report.
