Adjusted earnings were 66 cents a share, compared with the 64 cents a share analysts had forecast.

For the third quarter, the company expects to have sales of $780 million to $820 million, compared to analysts' expectations of $805 million. Entegris is also looking for third-quarter earnings of 43 cents to 50 cents a share, and adjusted earnings of 68 cents to 75 cents a share. Entegris said quarterly sales was driven by demand for its unit-driven technology, particularly CMP consumables, selective etch and deposition materials.
