LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 29, 2025 - Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company, subsidiaries of PPL Corporation, have filed a stipulation agreement with the Kentucky Public Service Commission (KPSC) for approval. This agreement involves several key stakeholders, including the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; Kentucky Industrial Utility Customers, Inc., Southern Renewable Energy Association, and the Kentucky Coal Association, Inc. The agreement supports LG&E and KU's plans to meet the growing energy needs of Kentucky, driven by unprecedented economic growth. The utilities are requesting a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) to add new natural gas combined-cycle units, install more battery storage, and upgrade environmental technologies. The KPSC is expected to make a decision on the request by November. Other parties involved in the case who did not join the agreement will continue to participate in the regulatory process.
