Ameren Corporation has announced plans for the Illinois Valley Reliability Project, aimed at enhancing energy reliability and resiliency in the region. The project includes constructing a new 23-mile, 138-kilovolt transmission line, upgrading the existing Princeton substation, and building a new switching station, named Lima, near Peru. To gather community input, Ameren Transmission is hosting a series of public open houses in Bureau and LaSalle counties. These events are designed to engage residents, allowing them to ask questions and provide feedback on potential route segments. The project is expected to be operational by late 2029. More information is available on Ameren's website, via email, or through their project hotline.
