Shares of Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) remained unchanged in recent Friday trade, despite widespread flight cancellations at Gisborne Airport on Wednesday and Thursday disrupted regional travel due to mechanical issues with two of the airline's de Havilland Q300 aircraft.
One aircraft suffered propeller blade damage, while the other needed extended repairs to its cockpit controls, leading to the cancellation of all flights by mid-afternoon on Thursday, the release said.
The cancellations stranded many passengers with few travel alternatives, while the airline works to repair the affected aircraft and offers accommodation, compensation, and rebooking support to those affected.
