GE Aerospace has announced that Cathay Pacific has committed to purchasing GE9X engines for 14 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, increasing the airline's total commitment to 35 GE9X powered 777-9s. The agreement also includes a service contract for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of these engines. The GE9X is the most powerful and fuel-efficient commercial aircraft engine in its class, offering 10 percent better specific fuel consumption than its predecessor, the GE90-115B. This engine is exclusively available on the Boeing 777X family of aircraft. Cathay Pacific, the first customer in the Asia-Pacific region to select the GE9X, aims to enhance its global reach and network reliability with this new addition to its fleet.
