Elders (ASX:ELD) said the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has indicated on Thursday that it requires further time to evaluate the company's proposed acquisition of Delta Agribusiness to consider information provided by both parties, among others, according to a Friday Australian bourse filing.

The ACCC will update its previously disclosed timeline in due course, the filing added.

Elders said it remains confident that the deal will bring benefits to local agricultural markets through the expansion of price-competitive private label options, increased technical expertise, and greater product and service offerings for farmers.

The company's shares fell nearly 1% in recent Friday trade.
