North American precious metals producer Americas Gold & Silver production rose in the second quarter thanks to operational improvements.

On production:

Consolidated silver production increased 36% year over year and 54% quarter over quarter as the company continues to benefit from ongoing operational improvements and efficiencies at the Galena Complex in Idaho.

Consolidated silver production came to 689,000 ounces, up from 506,000 ounces a year earlier, representing about 839,000 silver equivalent ounces.

Zinc output was 1.5 million pounds, while for lead output was 1.9 million pounds of lead.

In Idaho, the Galena Complex produced 420,000 ounces of silver compared to 560,000 ounces, which Americas said was due to operational improvements currently in progress as part of its transition plan.

The company anticipates "potential short-term movements" in by-product production levels while aiming to increase mining rates of silver-copper ore and set up key infrastructure in support of future growth.
