Ameren Illinois has announced the deployment of innovative LineVue technology to enhance the evaluation of sub-transmission power lines, aiming to improve service reliability and reduce customer costs. The LineVue device, which is positioned on power lines to assess their steel core, offers a comprehensive inspection that is up to 15 times more accurate than traditional methods. This technology will help identify defects, such as frays, and optimize the timing for line replacements. Initially tested in locations like Joppa and Galesburg, this project is part of Ameren's broader strategy to modernize their energy grid, minimize outages, and make energy more affordable. The data gathered will inform the company's decisions on infrastructure upgrades as outlined in their Multi-Year Integrated Grid Plan.
