Looking at Samsonite Group S.A.'s (HKG:1910 ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net sellers. That is, there were more number of shares sold by insiders than there were purchased.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Samsonite Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the CEO & Executive Director, Kyle Gendreau, sold HK$6.1m worth of shares at a price of HK$14.52 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of HK$16.60, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was only 14% of Kyle Gendreau's holding. Kyle Gendreau was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.
