Markel Insurance, part of Markel Group Inc., has finalized the sale of its Global Reinsurance business renewal rights to Nationwide. This strategic move, initially announced on July 30, 2025, aligns with Markel's plan to streamline operations and concentrate on its core specialty insurance markets. Nationwide will entrust Ryan Re Underwriting Managers, a managing general underwriter of Ryan Specialty, with the underwriting and management of the renewal policies involved in the deal. Markel's Global Reinsurance division will enter runoff, with premiums earning out over the next two to three years. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
