Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. has announced the approval of an updated Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for its Imwelo Gold Project in Tanzania's Geita Region. The approval, granted by the Tanzanian National Environment Management Council, confirms the project's compliance with environmental and social standards, allowing it to proceed under existing permits. The Imwelo Project, situated 12 km from AngloGold Ashanti's Geita Gold Mine, is supported by a 10-year mining license and a 2021 JORC-compliant Pre-Feasibility Study. The project is designed as a low-capex starter open-pit mine with potential for underground expansion. LVG has secured strategic partnerships and funding, including a non-binding term sheet for a gold prepay financing facility, to support pre-production activities. The company is focused on practical steps to transition Imwelo into production, leveraging its straightforward mine plan and proximity to regional infrastructure.
