1133 ET - Frontier Airlines is targeting Spirit, announcing plans to fly 20 new routes also served by the struggling discounter. Frontier has for years tried to acquire Spirit, its chief budget rival, but has so far been unsuccessful. Now Spirit has hired advisers to explore a repeat restructuring after emerging from bankruptcy this year with lingering financial problems. Frontier CEO Barry Biffle has said Frontier intends to be the "last man standing" in the low cost airline space: "there's going to be no one that can win in the domestic like us," Biffle said on an earnings call earlier this month.
