Market Chatter: Spirit, Frontier Chairs Met in Florida to Discuss Spirit's Rebuilding Efforts, State of US airline industry

Spirit Aviation (FLYY) Chairman Robert Milton met with Frontier Airlines Chairman Bill Franke in Florida earlier this week to discuss Spirit's rebuilding efforts after emerging from bankruptcy and the broader US airline industry, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The talks, which was initiated by Milton and also joined by Spirit's chief executive officer, Dave Davis, did not involve any acquisition discussions, the source said.

The meeting came a week after Spirit borrowed all of the $275 million revolving credit line to prevent a liquidity crisis that had threatened its ability to process credit card payments, the report said.

Frontier has for years pushed for a merger with Spirit, the report said. Frontier's $2.2 billion offer in January was rejected by Spirit as "inadequate and unactionable."

Spirit and Frontier did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
