The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority said it cleared the merger between DHL's U.K. eCommerce unit and the parcel delivery service provider Evri.

The watchdog said Thursday that the decision was made on the information currently available.

The CMA had started probing the merger in late July, after concluding that the potential deal could hinder competition, setting a Sept. 25 deadline to decide whether to approve the deal after its initial review, or refer it for an in-depth investigation.

"This approval is a key milestone to concluding and completing the deal, which is expected to take place promptly following receipt of all regulatory approvals, " the German logistics group said in a separate statement.

The combined Evri Group is set to deliver over 1 billion parcels and letters annually. DHL eCommerce UK will rebrand as Evri Premium in 2026, the group added.
