- U.S. oil and gas producer ConocoPhillips COP.N will cut up to a quarter of its workforce, or about 3,250 employees as part of a broad restructuring

- Newsmax NMAX.N sued its larger news rival Fox Corp FOXA.O in federal court in Florida, accusing the media giant of suppressing competition in the U.S. market for right-leaning pay TV and leaving consumers with less choice.

- A U.S. federal judge ruled that U.S. President Donald Trump's administration unlawfully terminated about $2.2 billion in grants awarded to Harvard University and can no longer cut off research funding to the prestigious Ivy League school.

- Nippon Steel 5401.T said it has resolved all legal disputes with the United Steelworkers union and steelmaker Cleveland-Cliffs CLF.N tied to its $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel, which closed in June.

- The Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court to quickly hear its appeal of a ruling that rejected the president's global tariffs, saying the lower court loss already was hurting the White House in ongoing trade negotiations.

- Florida plans to end all state vaccine mandates, including for students to attend schools, a move public health experts warned could trigger severe outbreaks among children, tourists and those with compromised immune systems.
