UBE (TYO:4208) will bring forward structural reforms at its Thailand base, closing operations including cyclohexanone, caprolactam and ammonium sulfate production by March 2026, a year earlier than previously planned, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The decision was made following weak market conditions and coordination with stakeholders. UBE Chemicals (Asia) will also shut one of its two nylon polymer (PA6) lines, while UBE Fine Chemicals (Asia) will discontinue 1,6-hexanediol and 1,5-pentanediol production.
Plans for Japan remain unchanged, with ammonia output to end in March 2028 and shutdowns of caprolactam, cyclohexanone and nylon polymers slated for March 2027.
