PRS REIT said KohlBerg Kravis Roberts & Co. hasn't made an offer for the company.
The real-estate investment trust on Monday confirmed that Kohlberg was participating in its strategic review and formal sale process in its capacity as an advisor.
It also confirmed that U.K. real estate investment manager Long Harbour hasn't withdrawn its potential 631.6 million-pound ($853.3 million) offer, which it received on June 11.
"This possible offer remains subject to financing and due diligence," the company said.
In October, PRS REIT said it was reviewing its options after feedback from a number of shareholders, including a potential sale of the business.
London-listed shares in early trade were up 7.40 pence, or 7.4%, at 105.40 pence, and are up 10% over the past 12 months.
