San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, Fontana Water Company, and Cadiz Inc. have announced a partnership aimed at tackling perchlorate contamination in the Rialto-Colton Groundwater Basin. This collaboration supports San Bernardino Valley's Cactus Basins Recharge Program, part of a larger regional initiative to enhance groundwater replenishment, improve water quality, and ensure long-term water supply reliability in San Bernardino County. Under the agreement, Cadiz will supply specialized water filtration systems to Fontana Water Company for perchlorate treatment, mitigating potential contamination risks as the recharge program begins. This initiative, facilitated through Cadiz's subsidiary ATEC Water Systems, is part of a 200,000 acre-foot water supply agreement signed in 2024. The partnership represents a significant step towards sustainable groundwater management in Southern California.
