South Korea ranked second in securing global shipbuilding orders in August, with 560,000 compensated gross tons (CGT), after China's 1.38 million CGT, Yonhap News reported Friday, citing London-based Clarkson Research Services.
The total amount of shipbuilding orders declined 65% to 2.44 million CGT in the month from a year earlier.
South Korea accounted for 23% of the global shipbuilding orders in the month, while China accounted for 57%, the report said.
