Brickworks' (ASX: BKW) shareholders approved a key resolution in support of a proposed merger with Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company (ASX:SOL) via a scheme of arrangement to form a newly created entity, Topco.

A total of 45.8 million proxy votes were cast in favor of the resolution, while the Chair exercised an additional 1.8 million undirected proxy votes in support.

Shares of the company rose 1% in recent Wednesday trade, while shares of Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company rose past 1%.
