Europe's EV Transition Faces a Complex Road Ahead -- Market Talk

1251 GMT - Europe's EV transition faces a complex road ahead, with slower-than-expected demand, intensifying competition from Chinese manufacturers, inconsistent government policy and rising grid costs, Third Bridge's Orwa Mohamad writes. All these factors are influencing the pace and profitability of the shift toward electrification, Mohamad says. In response, many European automakers are recalibrating their strategies. Brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo are relying more heavily on hybrids and mild-hybrids to support sales, while ultra-luxury brands such as Ferrari are monitoring the fully-electric market before committing to further investment. Battery supply remains a critical battleground, as they are the most expensive component of an EV, and securing affordable, reliable access is a key priority for European automakers, Mohamad adds.
