** Sub-index tracks easing gold prices, pressured by profit-taking and an uptick in the dollar GOL/

** Gold miner Evolution Mining EVN.AX loses 8%, registering its biggest intraday pct loss since July 9

** Northern Star Resources NST.AX falls 3.6%

** AXGD up over 70% this year, including the day's moves
