Utah prosecutors unveiled seven charges on Tuesday against Tyler Robinson for the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and formally announced they would seek the death penalty.

The charges include aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice and witness tampering. Robinson's DNA was found on the trigger of a rifle used in the shooting, according to the charging documents. He is also accused of urging his roommate to delete incriminating messages and to not speak with investigators.

Robinson, 22 years old, is expected to make his first court appearance via remote video Tuesday afternoon, days after a fast-moving manhunt ended when his family helped deliver him to the custody of law enforcement.
