Albertsons named Kim Fennebresque as its new board chair as former Chief Executive Jim Donald has elected to retire.

The grocery-store chain said it is also adding David Zinsner, Intel's chief financial officer, to the board as an independent director. Allen Gibson has also retired from the board, Albertsons said Wednesday.

Fennebresque has served as an independent director since 2015, and currently serves as the chair of the compensation committee and a member of the audit committee. He also chairs the supervisory board at the Austrian bank BAWAG and chairs at BlueLinx. He is also a board member at Ally Financial.

Donald, whom he is succeeding, was co-chair of the board starting in 2019 and became independent chair in October 2024. Donald was Albertson's chief executive for about a year starting in 2018, and served as chief operating officer before that.
