IPS (TYO:4390) and its Philippine unit InfiniVAN signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Information and Communications Technology on Sept. 18 to build a secure, high-quality government network in the Philippines, according to a Thursday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The deal supports the country's National Broadband Plan by expanding connectivity to underserved areas, boosting cybersecurity and strengthening public WiFi services.
IPS said its domestic and international fiber infrastructure, including the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network and the upcoming Japan-Philippines-Singapore cable, will be used to support the project.
