Dow Jones
2025/09/17

Shares of industrial and transportation companies fell amid mixed data.

Industrial production inched up 0.1% in August, prolonging an extended slump in U.S. manufacturing activity. Earlier in the week, a survey from the New York Federal Reserve revealed perceptions of slowing activity in a key U.S. region.

South Korea is conducting a government investigation into potential human-rights violations against more than 300 Korean citizens related to the U.S. immigration raid at a Hyundai Motor construction site in Georgia earlier this month.

Boeing's dispute with 3,200 striking machinists is no closer to resolution as the parties remain far apart on terms.

Ford Motor plans to cut a further 1,000 jobs in Germany as it seeks deeper cost savings to offset weak demand for electric vehicles in Europe.

Jaguar Land Rover extended a production shutdown into next week as the luxury auto maker continues to grapple with the fallout from a cyberattack.
