1346 ET - An acquisition of Performance Food could come with a high price for US Foods, Deutsche analyst Lauren Silberman says. The two companies said Tuesday they are discussing the logistics of what a merger would look like. Silberman thinks a combination would unlock meaningful value for the companies, but US Foods would need to clear a high bar to make it happen. Performance Food is up 16% versus its unaffected price, whereas US Foods is down 3%, Silberman says. Performance Food has indicated any transaction would come at a high price, she says.
