A BWX Technologies unit was awarded a National Nuclear Security Administration contract for work on a Domestic Uranium Enrichment Centrifuge Experiment pilot plant.
The pilot plant scope will take place through an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract vehicle valued at $1.5 billion, utilizing discrete task orders, according to the NNSA, a semi-autonomous agency with the Department of Energy.
The contract to BWXT Enrichment Operations is for licensing, manufacturing development, facility construction and operations.
BWX Technologies had second-quarter revenue of $764 million, up 12%.
Shares were recently up 1.7% to $177.28 and are up about 59% this year.

BWX Technologies said it was awarded a National Nuclear Security Administration contract valued at $1.5 billion for work on a Domestic Uranium Enrichment Centrifuge Experiment pilot plant.
The pilot plant scope will take place through an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract vehicle utilizing discrete task orders, according to the NNSA, a semi-autonomous agency with the Department of Energy. The contract is for licensing, manufacturing development, facility construction and operations, the NNSA said.
BWX Technologies had second-quarter revenue of $764 million, up 12%.
The pilot plant will be located at BWX's Nuclear Fuel Services site in Erwin, Tenn. It will demonstrate low-enriched uranium production for NNSA's defense missions, before ultimately being repurposed to produce highly enriched uranium for naval propulsion applications, the company said.
Shares closed up 1.3% to $176.65. As of the market close, they were up about 59% this year.
