New Era Energy & Digital (NUAI) said Wednesday that its joint venture company Texas Critical Data Centers has signed a memorandum of understanding with GlobeLink Holdings to develop a 1,600-mile fiber optic network across Texas.

The system is expected to provide the network with sub-5 millisecond latency and more than 30 terabits per second of capacity per fiber pair, the company said. It is designed to handle high-performance computing, artificial intelligence hyperscale and cloud workloads.

The new network will connect to GlobeLink's 2,400-mile terrestrial and subsea fiber network linking Mexico City, Corpus Christi, Odessa, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas, New Era said.

The company said the fiber buildout is part of its strategy to deploy digital infrastructure at its West Texas complex, which is expected to scale beyond one-gigawatt and host multiple tenants.

Shares of New Era Energy & Digital were up 27% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
