Telecommunications Operators Could Face Diverging Fates in Germany -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
2025/09/17

1126 GMT - Telecommunications operators' performances could diverge depending on regulatory changes and M&A outcomes in Germany, UBS's Polo Tang and Dhruva Kusa Shah write. The German market is currently experiencing limited revenue growth and Ebitda declines due to intensifying competition among German mobile providers and regulatory changes affecting multi-dwelling units. A regulatory change in Germany now prevents landlords from bundling TV services with rental agreements. Deutsche Telekom appears to be in the best positioned to handle these challenges, the analysts add. Meanwhile, Vodafone potentially faces the most risk in the event of mobile consolidation and increased broadband competition in the multi-dwelling unit segment, they say. Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom shares are down 0.30% and 1%, respectively. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)
