Glaukos (GKOS) said late Thursday it has started the construction of its new manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama, with a planned investment of over $80 million, in a bid to expand its US manufacturing presence.

The project includes development of a 200,000 square-foot research and development and manufacturing site on 25 acres in Cummings Research Park, with an option for an additional 15 acres for future expansion, the medical technology company said.

The multiyear project, scheduled for completion by 2030, is expected to create more than 150 full-time jobs in the region, the company added.
