DFS Furniture swung to pretax profit in fiscal 2025 driven by higher revenue and said it was well-placed to manage the continuing challenging environment.

The U.K furniture retailer said Thursday that pretax profit for the 52 weeks ended June 29 was 32.9 million ($44.2 million) compared with a loss of 1.7 million for 53 weeks ended June 30, 2024.

Underlying earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization increased to 157.2 million pounds from 142 million pounds.

Revenue rose to 1.03 billion pounds from 987.1 million pounds, driven by higher order intake in keys segments. Meanwhile, gross sales increased 5.8% to 1.39 billion pounds.

"The market demand drivers for the upholstery sector remain delicately balanced. Consumer confidence remains below the long term average and inflation remains elevated but housing transactions have been recovering, consumer savings levels are relatively high and interest rates look set to fall," Chief Executive Tim Stacey said.

The board hasn't declared any interim dividend due to the group's net debt level and continuing economic uncertainty.
