Shares of Andean Silver (ASX:ASL) jumped over 7%, Silver Mines (ASX:SVL) climbed nearly 6%, while shares of South32 edged higher, as spot silver prices rose past $45 for the first time in 14 years.
Investors fled to the safe-haven asset as concerns grew after stronger-than-expected US second-quarter gross domestic product and jobless claims data lowered the bets of interest rate cuts this year, the Australian Financial Review reported on Friday.
