Deutsche Telekom AG has reported continued progress in its fiber optic rollout, with over 218,000 new fiber connections built in August, marking a 9 percent increase compared to August last year. Currently, around 11.6 million households and businesses are able to book fiber tariffs, enabling internet speeds of up to 2,000 Mbit/s. In total, more than 37.1 million households and businesses now have access to tariffs with speeds up to 100 Mbit/s, while approximately 31.7 million can obtain speeds up to 250 Mbit/s. The company also highlighted a unique digital interface project for broadband expansion, which allows for fully digital exchange of all necessary applications between municipalities and telecom providers. This system aims to reduce inquiries, clarify requirements, increase transparency, and significantly shorten processing times for broadband projects. Among the top applications on the Telekom network in August, MagentaTV was the most used, followed by YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and a shared fifth place between Akamai Cloud and Instagram. For uploads, Google Cloud continues to lead, ahead of Microsoft Teams, Discord, Google APIs, and WhatsApp.
