European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Open Week Higher in Monday Trading

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts opened the week modestly higher late Monday morning, increasing 0.22% to 1,548.79 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Genfit (GNFT) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which rose 5.9% and 5.7%, respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which were up 4.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP), which shed 22% and 2.4%, respectively. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR) and oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE), which fell 2.3% and 1.6%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) and Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which climbed 8.8% and 3.4%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which advanced 3.2% and 2%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which dropped 2.8% and 2.1%, respectively. They were followed by tobacco company British American Tobacco (BTI) and oil and gas company Shell (SHEL), which were down 1.2% and 1.1%, respectively.
