Ameresco Inc., a leading energy solutions provider, has announced the completion of a new renewable natural gas $(RNG)$ facility at the Lee County Landfill in Dixon, Illinois. Developed in partnership with Republic Services and U.S. Energy, this marks the 15th renewable energy project between Ameresco and Republic Services, with additional facilities in various stages of development. The new facility captures landfill gas and processes it into pipeline-quality RNG, which can be used as a low-carbon transportation fuel. Capable of processing 4,500 standard cubic feet per minute of raw landfill gas, the plant is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 61,000 metric tons annually-equivalent to the emissions from more than 70 million gallons of gasoline or approximately 1.5 million barrels of oil. This project is part of ongoing efforts to convert waste into clean energy and advance environmental sustainability.
