TechTarget Inc. has published a new industry analysis, highlighting 2025 as a pivotal year for 5G Standalone $(SA)$ network deployments and the adoption of RedCap devices. According to the report, the acceleration of global 5G SA rollouts is set to unlock significant opportunities for IoT-driven sectors, particularly manufacturing and industrial automation. Advanced network capabilities such as network slicing are moving beyond trials, with commercial offerings now available from major carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon. Private 5G networks are also gaining momentum, addressing security concerns cited by a third of organizations surveyed. The analysis notes that the 5G device ecosystem reached a milestone with the launch of North America's first commercial 5G RedCap device, the TCL LINKPORT IK511 dongle, in October 2024. While RedCap module costs remain high, prices are expected to fall as adoption rises, especially in China, where government subsidies are anticipated to further drive growth. The alignment of hardware and network ecosystems on RedCap in 2025 is expected to transform IoT applications across industries.
