Mon Power and Potomac Edison, subsidiaries of FirstEnergy Corporation, have submitted an Integrated Resource Plan to the West Virginia Public Service Commission outlining strategies to ensure reliable and cost-effective power for the next decade. The preferred plan includes keeping the Fort Martin and Harrison Power Stations operational, exploring the addition of a 1,200-megawatt natural gas combined-cycle power plant around 2031, adding 70 megawatts of utility-scale solar in 2028, and using short-term power purchases to maintain reliability as demand from sectors such as data centers and advanced manufacturing grows.
