The New Zealand Commerce Commission said Spark New Zealand's (ASX:SPK, NZE:SPK) "Made For You Review" initiative for customers is a wasted opportunity without a "right plan" recommendation, according to a Thursday statement by the Commission.

Spark said last year that the initiative will include a recommendation that will advise customers to stay with or switch plans based on their usage, the statement said.

However, in February, the company said it would pause the rollout of annual summaries, the statement added.

The new summaries that the company expects to roll out this month are a "backward step" as they don't include historical details, the Commission said.

In a response to MT Newswires' request for comment, Spark's spokesperson said the customers can access their usage and spending information for 12 months.

Shares of the company rose nearly 1% in the Australian bourse.
