Sony Group (TYO:6758) and Yanmar have established Yanmar Blue Tech, a joint venture to develop and implement advanced underwater sensing solutions.

Yanmar holds a 90% stake in the venture, which aims to address critical marine sustainability challenges including ecosystem conservation and underwater infrastructure inspection, according to a statement on Monday evening.

The partnership leverages Yanmar's expertise in marine equipment and Sony's cutting-edge sensing technology, which has been successfully applied across various industries.

The joint venture's first project focuses on enhancing and commercializing remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) used for underwater surveys and hull-cleaning operations.
