BK Technologies said it detected potentially suspicious activity involving its IT systems last month that may have led to the leak of non-public information.

The maker of wireless communication equipment for government and public safety agencies disclosed Monday that it detected the suspicious activity on Sept. 20 and began taking steps to contain and remediate the potentially unauthorized activity.

A limited number of non-critical systems experienced minor disruption as a result, and the third party responsible for the incident has been removed from BK's IT systems, the company said.

The unauthorized third party may have obtained access to and acquired non-public information within the company's custody, potentially including records pertaining to current and former employees, BK said.

BK is still investigating the incident and has notified law enforcement.

The company said it expects a significant portion of direct costs incurred by the incident to be reimbursed through insurance recoveries.

The unauthorized access isn't expected to materially impact BK's financial condition or results of operations, the company said.
