Walmart (WMT) maintained lower grocery prices than most of its competitors except for Dollar Tree (DLTR), Aldi and Lidl, in a September study conducted in Charlotte, North Carolina, analysts at BofA Securities said in a Tuesday note.

The analysts said that relative to a year earlier, food prices were up 1% on average, led by higher prices in meat and dairy, while produce and center store were either in-line or slightly down.

Companies involved in the study were Kroger's (KR) Harris Teeter, Publix, Target (TGT), Amazon's (AMZN) Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Market (SFM), Dollar General (DG), and Family Dollar, BofA said.

BofA said that while Walmart maintained the lowest overall prices in their study, all retailers with the exception of Target improved their positioning relative to Walmart compared with a year earlier.
