The latest industry analysis from Omdia, as published by TechTarget Inc., reveals that the global PC market grew by 6.8% year-over-year in Q3 2025, reaching 72 million units in total shipments. This growth is largely attributed to businesses and consumers upgrading their devices ahead of the Windows 10 end-of-support deadline. Notebooks, including mobile workstations, saw a 4% increase in shipments to 57.2 million units, while desktops, including desktop workstations, surged by 17% to 15.2 million units. Lenovo led the market with a 26.7% share and 17.4% annual growth, followed by HP at 20.7% market share and 10.7% growth. Dell, Apple, and Asus rounded out the top vendors. Despite strong upgrade demand, a significant portion of users are expected to continue using Windows 10 beyond the deadline, with many likely to opt for Microsoft's Extended Security Updates. The analysis also highlights that PC industry players are preparing new product launches, with CES 2026 anticipated to showcase updated portfolios featuring the latest chipsets and renewed focus on on-device AI capabilities.
