Chorus (NZE:CNU, ASX:CNU) said that New Zealand's Minister of Finance and Minister of Infrastructure asked the National Infrastructure Funding and Financing to investigate the feasibility of selling the Kiwi government's securities in the company, according to a Friday filing with the New Zealand and Australian bourses.
The securities held by the government were used to finance various ultra-fast broadband build programs that Chorus has completed, per the filing.
The company will monitor the process, with no expected changes to the securities' original terms if sold to a third party, the filing added.
The company's New Zealand-listed shares were up almost 2% in recent Friday trade.
