Papa John's (PZZA) is prioritizing India for expansion and is introducing its first majority-vegetarian menu tailored to local tastes, Reuters reported Friday, citing an interview with company Chief Financial Officer Ravi Thanawala.

After leaving the region in 2017, the chain has reportedly reopened with four Bengaluru outlets and aims to reach about 650 stores across India over the next decade.

Executives expect a recovery in discretionary spending in the country, helped by recent tax cuts to support long-term growth, the news outlet reported.

India joins China and the UAE as regions drawing attention from the company, the media outlet quoted Thanawala as saying.

Pulsar Capital and PJP Investments from the UAE are joint master franchisees, Reuters reported.
