Major advertising groups, led by Omnicom (OMC) and the Media Rating Council or MRC, have proposed new transparency standards for digital ad auctions, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Sources told the newspaper that the working group includes Amazon.com (AMZN) and Meta Platforms (META), while Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google declined to participate.

The MRC published the draft version of the proposed standards in September for a 30-day public comment period. The proposed regulations will require auction participants to disclose information such as type of auction system used, method to determine auction winners, and how prices are set, among others.

Omnicom, the MRC, Amazon, Meta Platforms, and Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
